Sean Stankowski
UKRI Future Leaders Fellow
Sean is broadly interested in speciation. His work mainly focuses on understanding the genomic changes that underpin adaptation, speciation, and novelty. He is is also interested in core concepts within speciation research and the role that they play in shaping our field. Sean is a co-founder and committee chair of the ESEB special topic network 'Integrating Speciation Research'.

Tymoteusz Pieszko
Postdoctoral Fellow
Tymek is broadly interested in evolutionary genetics and in applying novel genealogical approaches, such as ancestral recombination graphs (ARGs), to study non-model systems. During his PhD at the University of Oxford, co-supervised by Tim Barraclough and Jerome Kelleher, he worked on ARG-based methods for quantifying sexual and asexual modes of reproduction. Currently, his main focus is on the egg-laying to live-bearing transition in Littorina, hoping to shed more light on the origins of evolutionary novelty.

Arka Pal
Postdoctoral Fellow
Arka research combines novel sequencing and analytical methods toward a deep understanding of the genomic basis of adaptation and speciation. He is especially interested understanding how the complete genealogy of a sample - the Ancestral Recombination Graph - can help us understand when and how alleles underlying adaptation and speciation arose. Arka is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with Magnus Nordborg at the Gregor Mendel Institute in Vienna, but he continues to work with us on snapdragons, which were the focus of his PhD.

Gabriella Malmqvist
PhD Student
Gabriella's work relates to molecular processes underlying the evolution of Littorina species. The aim is to examine trait evolution across several species and ecotypes in Littorina species using genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic approaches. Some interesting traits include shell phenotypes, relationship between chromosomal inversions, gene expression, phenotype, and embryo development.
Gabriella is co-supervised by Erica Leder and is based at the Tjärnö Marine Laboratory, University of Gothenburg.
